Child Care Nurse Consultant Program

The Child Care Nurse Consultant Program is a partnership between local Health Departments and Child Care Resource & Referral Programs. The Child Care Nurse Consultant was established in response to the growing need for additional support services in the area of health and safety in child care. The Child Care Nurse Consultant is a nurse employed by a local Health Department who resides in the Child Care Resource & Referral office.

The goal of the Child Care Nurse Consultant is to build strong connections between child health experts, child care providers and families to support healthy and safe child care environments and ultimately healthy outcomes for children in care.

There are numerous services the Child Care Nurse Consultant can provide: training; parent & child health education; assessment of health policies and procedures; provide telephone/on-site consultations; and overall, promote healthy quality child care in the community.
